Title: "High-Altitude Balloon Investigations of Gravity Waves and Solar-Terrestrial Interactions During Eclipses and CMEs"
**Speakers are student winners of NASA STEM grant to launch balloons from Hanover High School**
Abstract: The Hanover High School High Altitude Balloon (HAB) team has been an active participant in the NASA-funded Nationwide Eclipse Ballooning Project (NEBP), conducting stratospheric balloon missions during the 2023 annular and 2024 total solar eclipses. These flights gathered data on gravity waves and provided real-time video streams of the eclipses while testing helium venting techniques for altitude control. Now, the team is participating in a new NEBP initiative alongside 20 universities to investigate ionospheric and atmospheric disturbances caused by Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs). Given Dartmouth’s deep expertise in space physics, we look forward to sharing our methodologies and discussing potential collaborations to expand the role of high-altitude ballooning in space weather research.
