Family-friendly public astronomy event, Saturday, 1/27, 5-8PM. Takes place by Shattuck Observatory and in Fairchild Tower lobby.
The Dartmouth College Astronomy and Physics department is hosting a public open house on Saturday, January 27th, from 5-8pm for their first public observing night of 2024! Geared towards students, families, and anyone who wants to learn more about astronomy (especially before this year’s upcoming total solar eclipse). Weather permitting, there will be opportunity to use our telescopes for yourself and ‘tour’ the winter constellations. Other fun activities include a pop-up planetarium inside Fairchild Tower, hosted by the Montshire Museum, physics and astronomy demos, and education crafts! The event will take place both outside Wilder Labs by the Shattuck Observatory and inside the Fairchild Tower lobby. Please see our website for directions, parking information, and more details: https://sites.dartmouth.edu/publicobserving/.
Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
