Stephanie Podjed

PhD Student in Physics and Astronomy

Hello! I am someone whith varied interests in life and that includes my astronomy research. For the past decade or so, I have focused in the realm of extragalactic astronomy. Currently, I work with Professor Ryan Hickox to better understand the relationship between radio detected active galactic nuclei (AGN), their host galaxy, and their host dark matter halo by determining the minimum stellar mass necessary for a satellite galaxy to host a radio AGN. Previously, I worked with Dr. Jedidah Isler to explore the broadband, multi-wavelenth behavior of quiescent and flaring blazars, with an emphasis on monitoring studies in optical photometry and spectropolarimetry. I am also passionate about outreach and mentoring, so you may see me around the community helping out at various STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) oriented events.

Other interests of mine include traveling, cooking, spending time with friends, being active at the gym or outdoors, reading, drawing, painting or creating pottery, and spending time with my two cats Jacques and Margot.
