[more]The BARREL project (Balloon Array for RBSP Relativistic Electron Losses), part of Professor Robyn Millan and Dartmouth space physics' ongoing research into Earth's radiation belts, has scored another recent victory in their successful 2018 launch from McMurdo Station, Antarctica.
[more]It gets cold outside in the winter, but the coldest spot around is Prof. Wright's lab in the basement of Wilder where an array of lasers trap and cool lithium atoms almost to absolute zero temperature. The Fermi degenerate atom cloud is then used to study superfluidity and other exotic properties of quantum phases of matter.
