The Optics in Medicine research group co-directed by Prof Pogue, is comprised of researchers based at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth, the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and Dartmouth’s Arts and Sciences Graduate Programs, the Optics in Medicine Laboratory studies aspects of tissue spectroscopy and imaging using both visible and near-infrared light. Rooted in the scientific explorations of developing unique spectroscopy and imaging systems which allow visualization of medically relevant phenomena.  The imaging technologies developed by the lab are used to visualize radiation therapy, guide surgery through molecular information, optimize photodynamic therapy delivery.
