Title: "Future Directions in Quantum Nanoscience: Physics, Materials, Devices, and Applications"
Abstract: In recent years, isolated impurities in semiconductors have emerged as promising platforms for quantum technologies. With electron spin coherence times in some materials now measured in seconds, single impurity spins provide many features formerly unique to atomic systems in a form amenable to engineering complex integrated devices through semiconductor nanofabrication. In our lab, we use optics and electronics to probe and control the quantum dynamics of these nanoscale defects, engineer devices and materials to exploit their properties for information processing and sensing applications, and use them as tools to address fundamental topics in physics, materials science, and biology. I will provide an overview of our current research projects and outline the challenges and possibilities for the road ahead.
